My wife and I have visited Woodgate many times over the years and finally got the opportunity to purchase a block of land. The next step was to find a quality builder. We spoke to several builders including Norm Wales Constructions.

It started with a phone call to Norm and then a visit to his office. We are so happy we did that because from day one nothing was an issue. We sat down with Norm and discussed what we were hoping to achieve on our block and we were not disappointed. We asked Norm if he would come to Woodgate to see if everything we wanted to achieve was possible, he was more than happy to. Norm developed a layout that took into account the best use of our land to get our dream home /shed and of course our budget. We loved it.

We were given a schedule for the build and every date was met. Norm’s professionalism and attention to detail was top notch.

Norm’s employees and sub contractors were second to none. We were able to talk to Norm anytime to discuss any enquiry we had big or small and it was never a problem to give us as much time as we needed. All the trades that worked on our house were very polite and courteous and were more than happy to give any advice we asked of them.

Having worked in construction myself as a tradie for 40 odd years, I know quality finishes and we certainly have quality finishes that I believe are second to none.

The best decision we have made with regard to building a home was to build with Norm Wales Constructions and highly recommend if anyone wanting to build in Woodgate / Bundaberg or surrounding areas we don’t think you could do better.  We all know building and planning can be stressful, but we can honestly say we avoided all that due to Norm delivering on all of his promises. On final inspection we could not find fault on anything.

After deciding to build for the first time and with a basic floor plan for our acreage block roughed out we approached several builders before selecting to build with Norm Wales Constructions.

We chose Norm and his team over the others for several reasons, being from the final house plans which gave us bigger second and third bedroom sizes to our entry way, master bedroom layout and our outdoor areas.

We decided to build our holiday home at Woodgate Beach with Norm Wales Construction after meeting with two builders and we felt Norm was the right person for the job.

From our first meeting we then moved to signing a contract and progressing with the building. The building process was stress free and we were kept up to date with weekly progress reports. These progress reports where a great benefit to us as we were in Brisbane for most of the process only being on site three times during the build.

Why did I contact Norm Wales Constructions, well , after commencing the process / early stages of discussion in respect to my new build with another local Bundaberg building contractor , I quickly realised after speaking with him on a number of occasions, including earlier today, that  he was disinterested to the point where he could not commit to meeting me within a certain time frame as he was fairly busy.

I then went directly online in search of another builder, I came across your company and I checked out your web site . I liked the fact that your company is innovative and builds non typical residential dwellings and your web site in general was informative and well structured.

I have always listened to my gut feeling when dealing with people and after our conversation today, I feel comfortable in progressing our relationship.

A little about me, I have only just retired from work life, one week into it , I spent 48 years in the workforce , 36 of those in the residential and commercial construction sectors. When we were thinking of building a new house, we weren’t sure who we were going to use, so whilst researching local builders and designs etc, we came across Norm Wales Constructions.

My wife and I had our own design and so I sent him a quick email to ask for some information. Later that day Norm called me and we had a good discussion about our expectations, so a few months later we bought a vacant block, and started the process with Norm and his team.

We had built a new home in W.A with a large company and once we signed the contract, that was it until handover. It was very different with Norm wales, we were made to feel a part of the process, we were treated with respect, and he was very understanding of our needs and ideas. We had constant updates on progress, and had walk throughs at every stage with the trades people. Norms scheduling of trades was exceptionally good, and all the trades people were polite, helpful and of the highest standards.

I could call Norm at any time and discuss things, including changes we wanted. He always had the time to speak with me and answer my emails. I could always contact the office and speak with Peter, he too was always helpful and reassuring.

The house itself is exceptionally well built, faultless in fact, which is a credit to the trades people, the team, and of course to Norm.

My wife and I were new to the Bundaberg area. With us previously having built 5 houses we were aware of the stress involved in building a home. Selecting Norm Wales Constructions to build our new home by the ocean was one of the best decisions we have made. Being in business ourselves for 35 years, it was a real pleasure to work with Norm thoughout the build. Everything was booked in with precision and ran like clockwork. We built a two storey home. Due to Norm’s efficiency, from excavating the land to moving in was only 4 months.

We have heard people say that Norm is pedantic. What a great quality to have. No short cuts taken. ­Everything was done the way it should be. He includes qood quality fittings with generous allowances.

On completion Norm personally does a walk through with you to ensure you are thoroughly happy and everything is completed to your satisfaction. We could not pick one thing. On top of that, he came in under budget.

“Building a home can be a daunting experience especially your first home, that is why we wanted to be sure with the person we chose to do the job.

When we started looking for a builder we went to 7 different builders and building companies and sat down with all of them and went through the process of looking through all they had to offer us, most of the people wespoke to were just sales people working for the builder and it just felt very fake like they were trying to sell us a product instead of building a home for us. That is why after speaking with Norm and seeing the quality of his own homes we felt a lot more relaxed and very confident that the person talking to us and that was going to build our house would be there through the whole process, and we were not wrong.

Unfortunately for us our dealings with the developer of our block of land was a bad one taking over a year of fighting with solicitors and court to get our land which Norm Wales stuck with us through the whole thing trying to help with whatever he was able to. Once we got our block then it was all up to Norm, it was smooth sailing from there right from the start from when we sat down with our plan for our house and he showed us in the contract exactly what we were getting for the money we were able to spend.

Also even items we were not able to buy Norm wouldn’t want us to compromise on getting what we wanted he would then call up the supplier to discuss a better deal or a better price for us. Our house was built in 3 months and 2 weeks and never seemed like anything was ever rushed just very efficient organisational skills on Norm’s part. As we discussed with Norm about our house anything we wanted to do whether it be use our own subbies or change certain parts of the house Norm was always happy to help not like some of the other builders we spoke to it was their way and that was it, also all the subbies that Norm uses are all really great blokes and we still use them for any extras we need done around the house…

Building your first home is a very difficult process. There are a lot of things to think about throughout the build. My wife and I changed our minds quite a few times. With each change that we made Norm was very helpful by getting quotes and information on the adjustments promptly so there was no delay in the build time. We were new to building a home, having only renovated previously and it was a long journey. However, we found Norm and his team were patient, punctual and polite. We asked for some specially crafted features that Norm’s team was able to interpret and build. Norm was also honest in feedback and gave us a practical focus to make the look we wanted workable.
